In need of statutory testing for your business?

If you are concerned about your workplace’s safety compliance, contact us for statutory testing today. We provide statutory testing service for businesses including RCD, emergency lighting, and electrical equipment testing and tagging.

Why Statutory Testing Is Important

Every business has an obligation to provide a safe workplace for its workers and visitors. Inspections and precautions can help minimise the risks of harm and ensure the health of your equipment, staff and business.

Certain types of electrical equipment and lighting systems must be inspected and tested according to frequencies set out in safety standards. The frequency varies according to the nature of the workplace and the risks associated with the equipment. The equipment and systems must be tested by a competent person to detect faults or damage.

The responsibility of statutory compliance lies on the business owner or employer. If testing and tagging of electrical equipment is not done according to the AS3760 Standard, then you are breaching your duty under Section 21. Therefore, it is best you call an experienced professional to manage inspection, testing and compliance on your behalf.

As a business owner or employer, it is your duty to ensure statutory compliance.

Statutory Testing Services

Some of the testing services we offer are:

  • RCD testing
  • Emergency light testing
  • Exit light testing
  • Electrical testing and tagging
  • Thermal imaging – infrared thermographic scanning

RCD Testing

A residual current device (RCD), otherwise known as a safety switch, is a device that provides essential safety protection against electric shocks and fires.

They need to be regularly tested to ensure they remain in good working order as they will only provide ongoing protection if operational.

AS/NZS 3760 is a joint Australian and New Zealand Standard that outlines the in-service safety inspection, testing method and frequency of electrical appliances.

The frequency of RCD testing varies according to the type of environment and/or equipment according to the AS/NZS3760 Standard. Please refer to the RCD schedule in Table 4 of the Standard.

Emergency Light Testing

Emergency and exit lighting must be inspected, tested and maintained in accordance with the AS/NZS 2293 Standard. Failure to comply could not just result in a penalty, but also endanger the safety of your staff and visitors.

All emergency and exit lights must undergo a 90-minute discharge test of the battery every 6 months as stated under the AS2293.2 Standard.

Electrical Testing and Tagging

Test & tag is the process of inspecting and testing electrical equipment for safety in accordance with the test & tag frequencies outlined in the AS/NZS3760 Standard.

Any electrical equipment that is connected to the electrical supply by a flexible cord and/or connecting device is required to be tested and tagged.

Test & tag regulations are drawn in the AS/NZS 3760 Standard. It is a joint Australian and New Zealand Standard created by Standards Australia that outlines the in-service safety inspection, testing method and frequency of electrical appliances.

Thermal imaging – infrared thermographic scanning

Thermal imaging can help find hot spots caused by defects in connections and components. It detects problem areas so that failure or damage can be avoided ahead of time. This leads to less downtime and productivity loss.
