The Kerfoot Journey ...
From the very humble beginnings of a need to provide for family in times of scarce unemployment with the shed in the backyard, an old Holden panel van, daily letterbox drops of homemade business cards with fuse wire attached.
Supported by his lovely wife Barbara doing the “books” Keith embarked ongoing it alone undertaking local electrical work and servicing small businesses. A month or 2 later they also sought support from & joined the National Electrical Association (NECA). Attending monthly local chapter meetings enabled a great network of support and education in the industry which built confidence in his ability to grow and prosper.
Keith’s high-quality workmanship, care of the customer along with his can-do work attitude led to building a strong reputation for excellence in our industry, one we all continue to respect, value, and uphold.
Sons Stephen and Richard joined the company in 1979 and 1982 respectively, bringing diversity in skills & ability. the business was able to be relocated to a factory in Seven Hills.
in 1998 Richards Wife Allyson joined as Office Manager followed by Stephen’s wife, Michelle in 1999 taking on Payroll and the implementation of the new GST. enhancing the team where strong family values flowed effortlessly into the business, onto each new employee & apprentice as they joined the team.
Further growth led to another re-location and then onto larger premises four years later. It was in 2001 where Keith and Barbara retired with a fulfilled sense of accomplishment and continue to have immense pride in the success and direction of the company.
Josh has consistently proven himself to be extremely competent and has the full confidence of not only the Kerfoot family but the respect and admiration of the whole company and has built solid relationships with all clients and stakeholders across the business to confidently lead the Kerfoot as General Manager.
Josh is extremely humbled & proud to lead and grow a company started by his grandfather over 49 years prior. Richard’s son Matthew is continuing in this proud heritage currently a Leading hand in our Mechanical Electrical team

Today Kerfoot is over 150 staff strong with more than 40 vehicles on the road and backed by an impressive support structure comprising of WHSE, HR, Admin, Finance, Contracts, Sales In-house Apprentice Mentor & the Kerfoot Family. Their “One Kerfoot” approach comprises five core teams – Projects, Services, Energy, Mechanical Electrical, and Integrations, to deliver solutions for clients with ease & confidence
