UBS is a renowned multinational investment bank and financial services company with a diverse clientele ranging from private individuals to corporations and institutional clients. Kerfoot was entrusted with the task of supplying and installing a comprehensive Electrical, Lighting, and Communications Package for UBS’s new “High End” office located in the prestigious Chifley Tower in Sydney, spanning across 5.5 floors.

 

Specific items within the scope of this project were:

The project encompassed various crucial aspects of electrical infrastructure and communication systems.

  • Communication Infrastructure: Establishing one new Main Communications Room and four additional Communications Rooms to ensure seamless connectivity across the office space.
  • UPS System: Implementing a state-of-the-art Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system to safeguard critical equipment and maintain uninterrupted functionality during power outages.
  • Workstations and Trading Floor: Managing power and communications cabling for 583 workstations, including the Bank’s Trading Floor, to facilitate smooth trading activities for 154 traders worldwide.
  • Redundancy and Integration: Incorporating multiple level redundancies in both power and communications systems, guaranteeing uninterrupted operations. Furthermore, seamless integration with the existing building infrastructure was ensured.
  • Supply and Installation of various components, including Main Switchboards, Precision Air Conditioning units, Fan Coil Units, Condensers, Computer Room Air Conditioning Units, Ventilation Fans, Leak Detectors, Actuators, and Pumps.

Meadowbank Tafe

Project Description

Meadowbank TAFE, a prestigious educational institution located in New South Wales, is at the forefront of providing top-quality vocational courses and training programs. In our pursuit of excellence, TAFE NSW recently embarked on an ambitious project—the construction of the New Technical Trades Building. As part of this endeavor, Kerfoot took on the role of the early works contractor, bringing their expertise and professionalism to the table.

 

Specific items within the scope of this project were:

  • Timely Procurement of products/items with a prolonged lead time;
  • Relocation of existing potable water services from proposed substation easement in
  • accordance with the hydraulic engineering documentation;
  • Construction of retaining structures in accordance with the structural engineering
  • documentation to meet Ausgrid requirements;
  • Complete Substation relocation site works as per the Level 3 Electrical Engineering
  • documentation and energise the new substation, followed by the decommissioning
  • and removal of the existing substation and all redundant associated services;
  • Construction of the New Main Switch Board Room and all associated services &
  • metering facilities as described in the documentation package;
  • Complete in ground works (pit and pipe) for the new submains and future ICT cabling
  • in accordance with the electrical & communications engineering documentation;
  • Energise the new Main Switch Board Room followed by the decommissioning of the
  • existing Main Switch Board and remove all the existing redundant cabling and
  • associated services;
  • Installation of new Low Voltages consumer mains and submain cabling to reconnect
  • supplies to all existing switchboards in the affected existing buildings;

Project Description

As the largest regional city in the state, Wagga Wagga boasts a vibrant community, breathtaking natural landscapes, and a rich cultural heritage. The recently completed $431 million redevelopment of the Wagga Wagga Health Service has significantly enhanced the city’s healthcare facilities, ensuring the well-being of its over 60,000 residents.

Kerfoot was entrusted by Fredon to provide electrical mechanical works for the air-conditioning plant in the new hospital. Our team was involved in a wide range of tasks, delivering top-quality services and contributing to the successful completion of this monumental project.

  • Supply and Installation of all cables, cable tray, conduits for wiring fed from MSSB’s
  • Supply and Installation of Essential power from MSSBs to on floor damper control panels.

State Library of New South Wales

Project Description:

The State Library of New South Wales, including the renowned Mitchell Library, is a significant institution that serves as a prominent special collections, reference, and research library in Australia. It holds a position of historical importance, being one of the oldest libraries in the country. The library’s extensive collection encompasses a wide range of valuable materials, making it a treasure trove for researchers, scholars, and the general public. With its heritage-listed status, the State Library of New South Wales remains dedicated to its mission of providing access to knowledge and promoting learning in a welcoming and accessible environment for all.

The State Library sought a capable and experienced contractor to install a new façade lighting system, replacing existing fittings, adding additional fittings, and upgrading the control system. Kerfoot, as the selected contractor, successfully completed the project, delivering a state-of-the-art LED lighting solution and integrating it with the Library’s existing RAPIX lighting control system.

 

Specific items within the scope of this project were:

Existing Lighting Arrangement:

The previous façade lighting, installed in 2012, consisted of Sylvania LED RGB fittings controlled by Light factory DMX software, utilizing CRMX radio transmitter/receivers. To enhance functionality and efficiency, we proposed replacing all fittings and incorporating them into the Library’s DALI lighting control system.

Scope of Works:

Kerfoot was responsible for the supply and installation of LED façade lighting, including all cabling, conduits, fittings, and controls. Additionally, we ensured the proper removal and disposal of all redundant fittings, fixtures, and conduits to maintain a clean and organized workspace.

LED Lighting Specification:

To meet the Library’s requirements, we utilized RGBW LED floodlights that met or exceeded the following specifications:

  • LED RGBW technology
  • Minimum power of 144 W or greater
  • Minimum luminous efficacy of 60 lm/Watt
  • Run life of 50,000 hours in temperatures up to 65°C
  • SDCM 2 for white LED light consistency
  • CRI (Color Rendering Index) of 80+
  • Beam angle of 45 degrees
  • IP66 rating for dust and water resistance
  • DALI 2 RGBWAF DT8 Dimmable driver for precise control

Lighting Installation:

Kerfoot executed the following tasks as part of the lighting installation process:

  • Replaced 44 LED floodlights with RGBW floodlights in the current locations specified in F1 on the attached plan.
  • Replaced 4 LED floodlights in the Portico soffit (F2 on the plan) with compatible canopy-style fittings that suit the rectangular cutouts in the soffit.
  • Ensured the reuse of existing power distribution, conduits, and termination boxes, wherever possible, to optimize efficiency.
  • Provided new PVC conduits for Dali lines as needed.

Kerfoot, as the selected service provider, has successfully commenced a contract with Frasers Property and is responsible for completing scheduled and preventative maintenance works for Frasers Property’s portfolio of 37 sites across Sydney. Notably, Kerfoot achieved the asset validation of all sites within the first month of the contract, exceeding the initial target of 3 months. This accomplishment allowed for accurate repricing of the preventative maintenance package, ensuring that all assets are aligned.

Project Description:

101 George is a contemporary A-grade office tower that seamlessly blends retail space on the ground floor with nine levels of prestigious office space. With a total of 290 car parking spaces, this building is designed to provide utmost convenience for both tenants and visitors.

One of the standout features of 101 George is its spacious and well-lit floorplates, each spanning approximately 2,000 square meters. These expansive floorplates offer abundant room for a variety of office configurations and layouts, ensuring that businesses can tailor their workspace to suit their unique needs. The building’s design fosters flexibility and collaboration, with interconnected stairs linking the different levels. This layout not only promotes movement but also encourages interaction between different parts of the building, creating a vibrant and collaborative working environment.

For the prestigious Department of Home Affairs fitout, Kerfoot was selected as the electrical contractor. Our role encompassed the supply and installation of Lighting, Power, and Communications, among other services. This involved a comprehensive scope of work, which included the design, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of the complete electrical and communications systems.

The electrical services works undertaken by Kerfoot covered various aspects, such as adhering to Greenstar requirements, coordinating with all services involved, supply authority metering, distribution boards installation, energy metering system setup, submain cabling, earthing protection, cable containment, floor boxes, grommets, and the supply and installation of all lighting, including architectural lighting. Additionally, Kerfoot handled the installation and augmentation of the lighting control system, as well as the augmentation and additions to the MATV (Master Antenna Television) system.

The project achieved several notable accolades, contributing to its success and recognition. Firstly, it was completed on time and within the allocated budget, reflecting the efficient project management and execution. Moreover, the staged handovers of the communications rooms were executed seamlessly, further showcasing the meticulous planning and coordination throughout the project.
