Project Description

Kerfoot Tendered and was awarded the first stage of a very large relocation project with in the Oracle Head office at North Ryde.

The project involves the complete staged refurbishment of four levels of offices, amenities and the fit out of a new server room.

Once completed Kerfoot was awarded all other stages including the refurbishment of the cafeteria area and new Gym for the staff,

All stages took place while the building remained occupied for the duration of the project.

The office fit out component of the project included a new main server room on level 6 of the building, a complete upgrade of the existing main switch board and the installation of a new UPS needed to happen to allow this server room to run.

Kerfoot worked with the clients IT team to ensure this installation was as smooth as possible providing temporary power to all critical services and completing all works out side of peak time.

As a part of the new staff gym project the old server room was decommissioned with kilometres of data & power cabling removed from site.

Over the course of these staged projects the team at Kerfoot formed a close working relationship with the facility’s team at Oracle and since the successful completion of these project Kerfoot is now the onsite electrician for this site and others that are under the Oracle corporation.

This project has shown how effective the team at Kerfoot is when delivering a project and ensuring the client’s needs are maintained once the project has finished and we have left site.

City Of Sydney Child Care Projects

Project Description

Kerfoot recently completed working on two childcare centres for the City of Sydney. One was in Huntley St, Alexandria and the other was in the Crescent in Annandale. These two early learning childcare centres were constructed after the 2013 childcare needs study found that the City of Sydney had a shortfall of places. Each centre provides childcare for 80 children living in the inner city.

For Kerfoot this project included the complete design, supply and installation of all electrical services including: High Voltage substation to feed the Alexandria site, Mechanical Electrical, Lighting and general power, Fire, Smoke and Exits, Security & CCTV and level 2 connections.

The project was challenging with contaminated soil, ground water, connections to the Ausgrid network both high and low voltage and working at heights to name a few but the team and everyone involved work together to complete an amazing project that the client is extremely happy with

Taronga Zoo – Hospitality Refurbishment

Project Description

Kerfoot was awarded the refurbishment project for Taronga Zoos Hospitality outlets.

The project was a design and construct and all electrical services were included in Kerfoot’s scope of works. The project was to be staged to allow for no disruption to the large crowds of tourists and school kids each week.

The team at Kerfoot worked with the Zoo’s design team to ensure the Hospitality outlets were functional and all the equipment needs were served without consuming more power than already available.

The spectacular perspective of Sydney Harbor from Taronga  Zoo makes it one of Sydney’s major tourist destinations and these Hospitality outlets would need to be as spectacular as the view.

Huge custom pendants were installed over food outlets and seating areas requiring specially designed structural steel bracing. Using floor voids, cavity’s, floor boxes and some clever planning the Team at Kerfoot were able to conceal all of the cabling to keep these standalone outlets looking neat and tidy.

The location of this project was very popular with the team at Kerfoot and has become a favourite place for some of the employees to work.

The team worked around the clock to make sure disruption was kept to a minimum and project time lines were met. The success of this project has lead the team at Kerfoot to completed more works for this client and has been recommended by the Zoo for all future projects.

State Library of New South Wales

Kerfoot’s relationship with the NSW State Library began back in 2015 when our Project’s team completed a fitout of Levels 1 and 3 office areas.

Once completed and successfully handed over, the Kerfoot Service team was engaged by the State Library to facilitate their electrical and maintenance needs.  As a result of the continuing relationship, numerous service and minor Project works have been carried out, rectifying issues and improving functionality of the original space as well as adding additional components to the newer areas of the Library.

Owing to the relationship between the State Library and Kerfoot, we were given the opportunity to design and install a new lighting control system which has enabled the building management team more control over their existing lighting.

As the office areas were already installed with DALI light fittings the most cost Effective option was to install a RAPIX Lighting Control System which required minimal changes to the existing installation but provided a range of benefits that weren’t included in the existing install. Building management are now able to adjust the lighting levels for the individual’s light fittings without having to plug in additional hardware or even leave their Office.

Moving forward from this the Library has a vision to further expand the system throughout the site and even adding a Head End PC with Visualisation Software to enable ease of use and monitoring for the End User.

If you are interested in upgrading your existing lighting and/or lighting Control System, contact the Kerfoot Integration’s Team and we help you Design a system that will give you the functionality required whilst maintaining a budget

Prairiewood Leisure Centre MSB Upgrade

Project Description:

Kerfoot were engaged directly by Fairfield City Council to provide a new site MSB for the existing Leisure Centre and the new Water Park adjacent. The initial time frame for delivery of the project was 12 weeks with the new MSB being located in a new switch room. Upon our first site meeting the completion date was requested for 8 weeks due to the Mayors request for revised trading dates. The other complication to this project was the fact the new Main Switch Room had not yet been designed or constructed. This made it impossible to complete the project to the current design in the required time. Kerfoot proposed a solution to provide a Custom made externally rated MSB that would house all the required services including a custom made culvert/pit for the MSB to sit on. The culvert would provide access for all future connections from the new Water Park. This solution was possible within the tight time frame. Kerfoot worked closely with Fairfield City Council on the revised requirements and design and came to a good working solution.

Kerfoot had the workshop drawings submitted, approved and the MSB & Culvert under construction within 2 weeks. The existing substation was being replaced by Connect and Kerfoot needed to have our works complete and ready before this changeover. Kerfoot had our material procurement and installation programmed down to the day. We started the excavation on a Monday morning at the culvert position with the culvert being dropped into the hole midday Monday. We completed the in ground pit and duct system from the Site MSB to the Substation and the existing centre in the first week. The second week we installed the consumer mains and submains and terminated all dead ends ready for the changeover. We had all of our works completed with 1 week spare before  the shutdown.

The shutdown went exactly as planned and we had our changeover works completed and tested prior to the new substation being energized.

Project Accolade:

This project turned into a critical path item for the council and the water park opening from the first meeting. It is a credit to the Kerfoot team to be able to identify early issues within this project and provide a workable and turnkey solution in the tight time frame allowed. It is also a good reflection on our relationship with our suppliers and their commitment to Kerfoot.

This was a tight, tough project given the time frame and planning / procurement required but once again our teams dedication, commitment and attention to detail delivered this project within all expectations.

This project was completed as a design and construct with the team at Kerfoot working with the School to design and complete an electrical installation that would meet there ever expanding needs.

Project Accolade:

Throughout the project Kerfoot worked closely with the client and key stake holders to ensure all of their needs were met and the project has been a huge success. It’s a credit to the team at Kerfoot and the design that has been installed has been highly praised by the client and the students using these facility’s each day.

The projects new power distribution was to be fed off the Hawkesbury hospitals power network and this meant that to power this new facility a complete shutdown of the hospitals substation was under taken. The shutdown was completed within the hospitals busiest time and with no major disruption to the client and its patients.
