Operating for 45 Years in the Electrical Industry is an impressive milestone by any means therefore The team at Kerfoot Pty Ltd felt it was worthy of an impressive celebration

The Location was the Australian National Maritime Museum Warships Pavilion City view room (Last Year our Projects team won both the State and National award for our work in this innovative & remarkable building. )

120 Clients Staff & family were invited where they were treated to fabulous evening filled with great entertainment beginning with a walk down the orange carpet into this amazing space filled with historic memerobillia & georgous styling.  Guests were indulged with extravagant food, amused by roving magician’s, mimes, entertained by musicians & montage showcasing such an acheivement.

It was a unique way to experience the strong history & promising future of our now 3rd generation company.

From the very humble beginnings of a shed in the backyard, with one Holden panel van, Keith Kerfoot on the tools and Barb doing the books, debt collecting and letter box drops of business cards with fuse wire wrapped around on her way to her job.

As the company grew both sons Stephen then Richard began working with Keith bringing new skills & moving into the commercial space including Industrial Breakdowns Mechanical Services, lighting design, Hospital maintenance, fit outs & construction work while supported by the Kerfoot ladies handling the customer support, admin & accounting.

Gordon Library

When Kerfoot was awarded the project, we were fully aware of its significance to the Council as Gordon Library is their biggest library in terms of size and user base.

The tender process considered not only to the monetary aspect but also the methodology to complete the works with minimal disruption and absolute compliance to economical, practical and environmental requirements, including the recycling and appropriate disposal of all waste including all metal, cable, tubes, ballasts and starters present in over 200 light fittings that were removed from site.

The main library floor presented the biggest logistical, technical and resources challenge in this project.

We had one single opportunity to complete the works in a 7-day timeframe that was booked 3 months in advance to comply with closure notice requirements to the public.

Through focussing on problem solving we managed to complete the works within the time frame despite light fitting being only delivered to site days after their scheduled delivery date and requiring additional onsite assembly that should have been done in factory.

The scope of works was clearly defined with milestones and stakeholders identified at the beginning of the works to minimise unforeseen costs.

During the project, it was discovered that the system as designed by the lighting consultants would not comply with the library’s requirements for user comfort and safety, Kerfoot and the Council worked very closely to document and apply changes to the project with minimal cost impact to either party. This was possible by focussing on the solution, not the problem.

This ensured the financial success of the project for Kerfoot and the client.

Time lines were developed and deadlines established, suppliers and procurement schedules were developed and managed to maintain the onsite and correct delivery of items for the installation.

All of this management and communication with the client, consultants and suppliers maintained the programme of this project and success for all involved.

477 Pitt Street, Sydney

Part of the redevelopment of the AGL Building, located in the old AGL gas chamber, the EOTF will allow greater comfort for those making the transition to walking / biking to work.

Kerfoot were engaged to deliver all Electrical Services to the new ISPT’s End of Trip Facility at 477 Pitt Street, Sydney.

Kerfoot worked closely with Intact Projects, Shead Management, John Wardle Architects, Arup Consulting and Building Management (CBRE) to transform the old AGL Heritage Gasometer into what is now one of the largest End of Trip Facilities in Sydney.

The project encompassed many challenges in that the old gasometer, including full upgrade of existing Switchboards, installation of new Mains Distribution Board and curved suspended lighting – all in heritage listed areas.

The 1000mm thick gasometer walls are heritage listed and provide a rustic feature for the bicycle parking area. The glazed lift shaft is also a stand out feature.

Hammond Care

The Hammond Care project extended over a 16 month period which consisted of the refurbishment of the existing Woonona Cottage and the new construction of a four story dementia facility, the RACF building.
The RACF building required the installation of a new outdoor 1200A Site Main Switchboard with a backup 600kVA generator supply. Nine distribution boards were supplied downstream of this Site MSB, with a 25kW solar system and dedicated UPS back up supply for the comms room.
Kerfoot were contracted to install all lighting power & data, a complete fire & warning system, MATV & Pay TV system, a complete security & access system, and a small AV component.

The RACF building consisted of a car park in the basement, where the Main Switch room was located and the only comms room which supplied the entire building, posing the rough in a little more challenging than usual.
The remaining building consisted of kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms and outdoor areas to create a homely feel for the dementia patients.
From asbestos delays, to challenging materials handling, and the all too familiar un-organisation of builders, the crew onsite conducted themselves as a well organised team. Chris Reiken was exceptionally satisfied with the level of professionalism displayed by the team in both their work and the manor they conducted themselves.
